Founded in 1870, Philadelphia’s University of the Arts closed suddenly on June 7th. In solidarity, Yellow Bicycle Company offered UArts students and faculty free use of the theater through July 4th. Come out and support them at a series of free events organized by UArts students!

Emma Stone, Tilda Swinton, Marlon Brando, Scarlett Johansson, Katherine Hepburn, and Mickey Rooney all have something in common.

In this staged reading of a new play by recent UArts grad Amy Chen, fictionalized versions of them will come to learn about the dangers of yellow face in the mainstream media through the vessel of a support group. Will they be receptive or will chaos ensue? Follow along as may, our support group leader, tries to teach these celebrities about atonement and accountability in this satirical play.

Featuring UArts students and alumni Helen St. Cyr, Adam Hoyak, Brenna Patzer, Anna Caccavaro, Sophia Parsons, Matthew Green and Keara Fernandez.

Join Theatre by Development & members of the show’s original cast of Uarts alum for a trip down memory lane— back to the SUMMER OF ’69, when Charlie & his Band are convinced their music will change the world. But after a music producer denies Charlie a chance at stardom all hell breaks loose. Originally presented as part of the Equinox 2020 New Plays Festival at UArts, SUMMER OF ’69 is the first show TBD founders, Monti & Andrew, worked on together as a director/playwright!

This is a Pay What You Can event, with all proceeds going to Theatre by Development and the Support Uarts Faculty Amid the Schools Closure Fund.
